What they’re saying about us…

“We had a wonderful stay in this wonderful and quiet atmosphere of your home. Thank you very much for opening your house for us and making us feel welcome. Thank you for your time, information and advice, which is well appreciated. We hope to see you very soon! “

“We had an absolutely amazing time in Italy! We wanted to thank you all so much for making our vacation the best we’ve ever had. We both feel, after a week with you, that we were staying with friends, rather than staying in a B&B”. “

“Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us, and making us feel welcomed. We can’t wait to visit again. This was an experience of a lifetime. “

“Thank you for your warm hospitality over the past three days. La Preghiera is everything we expected and more – words such as breathtaking, inspiring, awesome do not it justice.”

"WONDERFUL"

La Preghiera: "Wonderful"
July 17th, 2006: A TripAdvisor Member, Magdeburg, Germany

"My soon-to-be husband and I spent a too short weekend at La Preghiera. We loved the people, the place, the surroundings, the food... pretty much everything. In fact I cannot come up with a negative thought.

The atmosphere is absolutely relaxing and the service is exceptional. We enjoyed reading by the pool the most. I recommend to rent a car for your stay there, because you need to drive to get to a restaurant for dinner (lunch can be served poolside at La Preghiera !), but also to explore the wonderful countryside even more (it was way too hot for biking!).

We had a wonderful stay and we were delighted to meet Sally Ann, Liliana and John who made our experience even more memorable. They did anything they could to make us more comfortable and at the end, when we had to leave, the staff, Sally Ann, Liliana and John were standing on the small bridge in front of the house, waving us good-bye!! It felt like leaving home. We hope to return soon."

We Are The Champions – Italy wins the cup! In case you didn’t know!

The four major football teams in Italy, Milan, Juventus, Fiorentina…. are under severe investigate for corruption and match fixing.

The E45 motorway running north to south through Umbria is in a bad state and a regional crisis is looming.

Properties are not selling well in most parts of the US, and in Los Angeles there are tens of thousands of unsold properties, prices are falling and it is currently better to rent rather then to buy.

In the UK although the building societies are talking-up the prices the real situation is that thousands of properties aren’t selling – even though the offer prices are reducing. Sherlock Holmes once said, about a dog that didn’t bark, it is the things didn’t happen that have major significance. So perhaps the prices of the houses that aren’t selling are more important than those that are?

Here in Umbria we are still attracting a year-on-year 10% profit on properties. This has been happening for the last 20 years and our area is now more expensive than the adjacent and very costly part of Tuscany, around Cortona. Obviously bad news if one hasn’t got much money, but very good news if you want your investment to appreciate year–on- year–on year.
We can’t BUILD anything new, we can only RESTORE an existing building and usually enlarge it by 100sq mt.
So, the pressure is on, more desire and less product, market forces, and the only way is upward. Don’t leave it too late!

Perugia – Umbria Jazz – 7th to 16th July 2006

Perugia – Umbria Jazz – 7th to 16th July 2006

More than 500 artists, evening, afternoon and night concerts, main stage at arena Santa Giuliana, 2 open air stages with free concerts....

Umbria Jazz Festival 2006 is, without any doubt, one of the most important event dedicated to jazz in Europe. Since 1973, when the first edition of the Festival Umbria Jazz was inaugurated, the biggest jazz artists have come to Perugia:
During the '70’s artists have included Dizzy Gillespie, Sam Rivers, Herbie Hancock, Enrico Rava, Miles Davis, Lionel Hampton and during the more recent editions of the festival Dedee Bridgewater, Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, Terence Blanchard, Paolo Conte, Vinicio Capossela, Nicola Arigliano, Miriam Makeba, Renzo Arbore and its Swing Maniacs, Sergio Cammariere, The Coolbone Brass Band of New Orleans, Lyle Henderson & Emmanuel Gospel Singers.
The Umbria Jazz Festival 2006 will take place during the month of July from 7th to 16th July, when the streets and piazzas of Perugia come alive with a choice of dozens of concerts and each bar, restaurant or club has groups performing live jazz from morning to evening… Perugia will become, once again, a meeting point for thousands of music lovers, coming from all over Italy but also from Europe and the United States.
